Welcome to Health Havens

This program, “Setting the Course: Passages through Menopause” was created through the wonderful generosity of the women of Wisconsin. These women donated anywhere from $5 to $5000 and actively helped with feedback. A special thanks goes to the BRICO foundation, the Children’s Health Education Center of Wisconsin (our initial co-sponsor) and to Jane Petit. We welcome and encourage pharmaceutical companies to sponsor the program. However, to insure the integrity of the program, no drug company money was solicited for its creation.

This enlightening program helps women understand how to create well being in midlife. How do we stay healthy in our 40's for our 50's? How do we create health in our 50's for our 60's?

   Objectives:

   • Understand and personalize experience of lifestyle, stress and sexuality in a woman’s life
   • Understand integration of breast, bone, heart and brain for overall health
   • Connect hormonal changes to symptoms
   • Name more treatment options after the program than previously identified
   • Apply management options to individual risk factors, personality and resources
   • Utilize managemant strategies in a consistent manner in order to evaluate effectiveness
   • Make informed adjustments in medical therapy to identify what works best for individual women
   • Use a flexible approach to use of management options that recognizes the changing nature
of needs as each woman matures
   • Work in partnership with medical professionals as decisions for treatment are made
   • Accept menopause as natural, manageable and potentially a celebratory part of life
